GOSFIELD LAKE GOLF CLUB
PROTOCOL FOR PLAYING GOLF – UPDATE 12
Having taken advice from a number of professional bodies, the Club has agreed the following protocol for playing golf at Gosfield. This will remain in force until further notice, and will be subject to review as circumstances change.
1. GOLF COURSE. Both the Lakes and the Meadows courses are fully open.
2. TEE TIMES. You must ring the Pro Shop number (01787 474488) to book your tee time. You will not be allowed on the course if you have not done this. You will be able to book your tee time between 8.00 am and 4 pm each day. When booking, all names must be given.
3. PERMITTED GROUPS. 3 BALLS AND 4 BALLS ARE PERMITTED. They do not have to be from the same household. A programme of competition golf (singles only at present) has been drawn up. Please refer to the separate Protocol for Competitions. Separate guidance has also been issued for submitting Supplementary cards or cards for obtaining a handicap. Guests and green fees are now available.
4. LADIES. Priority will be given to ladies on a Tuesday between 8.00 am and 10.00 am. Slots between 7.00 am and 8.00 am on Tuesdays will be available for anyone to book. From 12 noon on a Monday, any unfilled slots for the next day will become available for all members.
5. GG’S. On Thursdays, priority will be given to GG’s between 7.00 am and 9.30 am. As with the ladies, any unfilled slots will be opened up from 12 noon on Wednesday. All slots must be pre-booked as above.
6. START SHEETS. Please note that all start sheets may be retained for contact tracing purposes, if required. If you feel unwell, please do not come to the Club. If you have any symptoms of the virus and you have been to the Club, please advise the office IMMEDIATELY.
7. ARRIVAL. Do not arrive earlier than 15 minutes before your tee time. Arrive on your own or with another member of your household if you are playing with that person. Please change your shoes in the car park.
8. PRACTICE. You may use the putting and chipping greens but there will be no flags and upturned hole liners will be used, as will be the case on the course. The practice ground will be out of use. However, the practice net is available, but players must use their own golf balls and take them away afterwards. The changing rooms are also out of use (except for men’s toilets – see note 19 below). A separate Protocol has been published by the Ladies Section, permitting the upstairs changing room for administration purposes only.
9. MARSHALS. The course will be marshalled whenever possible. From Monday 8th June, players will tee off at 10 minute intervals from the 1st tee, starting at 7.00 am. From 7.00 am until 9.00 am each morning, the 10th tee will be available for members wishing to play 9 holes. Only members who have paid their fees or have an arrangement with the Club for instalments etc, will be allowed on the course. The Pro Shop and marshals will have a list of all current members, which will be updated on a daily basis.
10. SOCIAL DISTANCE. Remember, ALWAYS, whether in the car park, the practice greens, on the tee or on the course – ABIDE BY THE SOCIAL DISTANCING RULES. WHERE POSSIBLE (eg ON THE COURSE) KEEP A MINIMUM OF 2 METRES FROM EVERYONE ELSE. IN SITUATIONS WHERE THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE, eg THE CLUBHOUSE, A DISTANCE OF 1 METRE PLUS IS PERMITTED WITH MITIGATING PRECAUTIONS eg FACE MASK, SCREENS ETC.
11. BUNKERS. All bunkers are in play on both courses. However, there will be no rakes available to players. Therefore, if your ball lies in a footprint, hoofprint or in an area where a previous player has not been able to smooth the bunker, you may place your ball within 6 inches, not nearer the hole. Otherwise, you play the ball as it lies. You are not permitted to smooth the bunker to do this. Please repair after playing, with your foot or club.
12. PREFERRED LIES. Winter rules have now ended, so no pick and place.
13. PAR 3’S. On par 3’s, we are unable to use divot boxes. Please replace your divot if you take one.
14. LOST BALLS. If you lose your ball, please adhere strictly to the 3 minute rule. If you think you may not be able to find your ball, play a provisional ball.
15. COURSE FURNITURE. Do not touch benches, rubbish bins and ball washers. Please take your litter home.
16. FLAGSTICK. Do not touch the flagstick. The cup will be upturned so that you will not have to retrieve your ball from the hole.
17. YOUR BALL ONLY. Do not touch any golf ball, other than your own. Leave stray balls as they lie.
18. GOLF CARTS / TROLLEYS. You can now hire buggies and trolleys, but you must sanitise them before and after use. You may use your own buggy or trolley. One player to each buggy, unless occupied by 2 people from the same household.
19. TOILETS. The on course toilet will be out of use. However, ladies will be able to use the toilet in the clubhouse corridor. The men will be able to use the toilets in their changing room. All doors will be safely secured in an open position.
20. CLUBHOUSE. The Clubhouse and the patio area will open as from 4th July. A separate Protocol has been drawn up for these areas and published for members and visitors.
At all times, please ensure that you comply with current Government regulations.
