GOSFIELD LAKE GOLF CLUB
PROTOCOL FOR PLAYING GOLF – UPDATE 19 – APRIL 2021
We are constantly taking advice from a number of professional bodies. Set out below is the latest protocol for playing golf at Gosfield. This will operate from MONDAY 12TH APRIL and will be reviewed in line with Government regulations and advice.
1. GOLF COURSE. Both the Lakes and the Meadows courses are fully open.
2. TEE TIMES. You must ring the Pro Shop number (01787 474488) to book your tee time. You will not be allowed on the course without a booking. You will be able to book your tee time between 8.00 am and 4 pm each day. When booking, all names must be given. The Pro Shop will now be fully open.
3. PERMITTED GROUPS. 3 BALLS AND 4 BALLS ARE PERMITTED. They do not have to be from the same household. A programme of competition golf has been drawn up. Please refer to the separate Protocol for Competitions. Separate guidance has also been issued for submitting Supplementary cards or cards for obtaining a handicap. Guests and green fees are permitted subject to management agreement.
4. LADIES. Priority will be given to ladies on a Tuesday between 8.00 am and 10.00 am (subject to review). Slots between 7.00 am and 8.00 am (7.30am and 8am during winter months) on Tuesdays will be available for anyone to book. From 12 noon on a Monday, any unfilled slots for the next day will become available for all members. Slots between 7 am and 8 am on Tuesdays will be reserved for the morning Swindle group.
5. GG’S. On Mondays and Thursdays, priority will be given to GG’s between 7.00 am and 10.30 am (7.30am and 11am during winter months). As with the ladies, any unfilled slots will be opened up from 12 noon on Wednesday. All slots must be pre-booked as above.
6. START SHEETS. Please note that all start sheets will be retained for contact tracing purposes. If you feel unwell, please do not come to the Club. If you have any symptoms of the virus and you have been to the Club, please advise the office IMMEDIATELY.
7. ARRIVAL. Do not arrive earlier than 15 minutes before your tee time. Arrive on your own or with another member of your household if you are playing with that person.
8. TRACK AND TRACE. All members and visitors, whatever their reason for coming to the Club, are required by law to check in with their names and a contact number. IT IS NOT SUFFICIENT FOR ONE PERSON TO DO THIS ON BEHALF OF OTHERS. Checking in can be done by the NHS COVID -19 App or by giving names and contact details to a member of staff. QR posters to enable you to check in will be in the Pro Shop, the Starters’ Hut, the changing rooms and on all patio tables.
9. PRACTICE. You may use the practice ground, the practice nets, the putting and chipping greens. However, on the putting and chipping greens, there will be no flags and upturned hole liners will be used. In all cases, players must use their own golf balls and take them away afterwards. The changing rooms, including showers, will now be open, but are subject to social distancing and the wearing of face coverings on entering. One person at a time per communal shower. The boot cleaner will also be in use.
10. MARSHALS. The course will be marshalled whenever necessary. Players will tee off at 8 minute intervals from the 1st tee, starting at 7.00 am (7.30am during Winter months). From 7.00 am (7.30am during Winter months) until 9.00 am each morning, the 10th tee will be available for members wishing to play 9 holes. Only members who have paid their fees or have an arrangement with the Club for instalments etc, will be allowed on the course. The Pro Shop and marshals will have a list of all current members, which will be updated on a daily basis.
11. SOCIAL DISTANCE. Remember, ALWAYS, whether in the car park, the practice areas, on the tee or on the course – ABIDE BY THE SOCIAL DISTANCING RULES. WHERE POSSIBLE (e.g. ON THE COURSE) KEEP A MINIMUM OF 2 METRES FROM EVERYONE ELSE. IN SITUATIONS WHERE THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE, A DISTANCE OF 1 METRE PLUS IS PERMITTED WITH MITIGATING PRECAUTIONS e.g. FACE COVERING, SCREENS ETC.
12. BUNKERS. All bunkers are in play on both courses (subject always to this being amended by the Club when circumstances dictate). However, there will be no rakes available to players. Therefore, if your ball lies in a footprint, hoofprint or in an area where a previous player has not been able to smooth the bunker, you may place your ball within 6 inches, not nearer the hole. Otherwise, you play the ball as it lies. You are not permitted to smooth the bunker to do this. Please repair after playing, with your foot or club.
13. PREFERRED LIES / WINTER RULES. Members will be notified as and when preferred lies / winter rules are in operation.
14. PAR 3’S. On par 3’s, we are unable to use divot boxes. Please replace your divot if you take one.
15. LOST BALLS. If you lose your ball, please adhere strictly to the 3 minute rule. If you think you may not be able to find your ball, play a provisional ball.
16. COURSE FURNITURE. Do not touch benches, rubbish bins and ball washers. Please take your litter home.
17. FLAGSTICK. Do not touch the flagsticks, either on the course or on the practice ground. The cup will be upturned so that you will not have to retrieve your ball from the hole.
18. YOUR BALL ONLY. Do not touch any golf ball, other than your own. Leave stray balls as they lie.
18. GOLF CARTS / TROLLEYS. When buggies and trolleys are permitted, you must sanitise them before and after use. You may use your own buggy or trolley. One player to each buggy, unless occupied by 2 people from the same household.
19. TOILETS. The on course toilet will be out of use.
20. CLUBHOUSE. The Clubhouse remains closed. However, the patio area will be open, subject to the rule of 6 and social distancing. Alcohol can be served, with or without a meal. Access to the toilets from the patio area is around the outside of the building only. Opening times and service available will be very much dependent on weather conditions, and therefore could be subject to change on a daily basis. Please be patient and understand that we are unable to operate a full service under these restrictions. Payment options are cash or allowing staff to temporarily take your card for payment.
21. FACE COVERINGS. Face coverings must be worn when entering the changing rooms and the Pro Shop.
At all times, please ensure that you comply with current Government regulations.
