The Junior Section is a very friendly and supportive section which aims to assist Juniors to meet new friends and feel at ease playing their golf. Juniors are actively encouraged to take full advantage of the program of events and competitions that are arranged.
A regular coaching scheme is in place and the majority of the costs are paid for from the Bursary Fund. The coaching is provided by the Club Professional or one of their Assistant Professionals. The sessions are normally run on Saturday and/or Sunday and details of the arrangements are provided well in advance of the coaching dates.
There are a range of Medal and Stableford Competitions run throughout the year on both courses. In addition there are Trophy events like 'Player of the Year' and 'Junior Club Champion' to be won. In addition there is a Junior County team event and many lower handicap juniors play in the Men's County teams.
Handicaps
A recognised Club Handicap is essential for playing on the Lakes Course: A maximum Handicap of 28 for boys and 36 for girls.
The Meadows Course is a beginners course and here every opportunity is provided for Juniors to obtain a handicap and the Meadows Organiser will give them full assistance with this.
Money raised from our annual Bursary events go towards promoting, developing and assisting Junior Golf at Gosfield.
We have opportunities for all ages from 5-18 girls and boys. There is something for everyone from beginners to accomplished players.
